St. Mary Magdalen
St Mary Magdalen is a relatively small early C14 Grade II* Listed Parish church consisting of a nave, chancel, a north aisle and a south porch. These are constructed from rubble composed of septaria, pebbles and flint pebbles. There is a substantial tower at the west end dating to circa 1480 which is faced with knapped flint with limestone dressing. The main roofs are covered in handmade clay tiles and the tower roof in lead.
A recent Quinquennial Inspection identified particular repairs were required to various areas of the building. These included repairs to the nave ceiling together with flint and stone repairs to the tower.
An English Heritage report outlined the requirements needed and a Lottery application for a Repairs Grant for Places of Worship was required to help fund the repairs. English Heritage also required a 10-year maintenance plan.
