Listed Building External Works

The extant C16 Hall house and its corresponding barn grouping are situated amidst low-intensity farmland, gently descending to the North, leading towards the River Stour. Notably, the property is located within the esteemed 'Dedham Vale' Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and boasts four distinct Listed Buildings within its immediate domestic curtilage: 'Ridgnall' House, 'Ridgnall Lodge,' 'Barn North of Barn to East' of Ridgnall’s, and 'Barn to East' of Ridgnall’s.

With an aim to augment the property's amenities, the client sought to incorporate a Tennis Court, a Wildlife Lake, and photovoltaic installations to provide sustainable energy for heating the swimming pool. Inkpen Downie Architects undertook a comprehensive consolidation of information derived from various consultants, which was then presented in a pre-application submission to the council. Subsequently, Inkpen Downie pursued and secured both planning permission and listed building consent in the successful realisation of the proposed enhancements.
